On Sunday 3rd August – North Devon’s The Wave Project hub hosted an Adaptive Surfing event on Croyde beach, exclusively sponsored by the Dryrobe® Warmth Project.

The North Devon team welcomed 6 young adaptive surfers and wheelchair users into the waves. It was a beautiful day of 2-3 foot waves, enjoyed by our 6 adaptive surfers and 7 Wave Project volunteers.  Friends and families were also welcomed to celebrate these 6 incredible young people. 

The charity’s Adaptive Lead, Ian Bennett shared that parents expressed how happy they were to be there, and asked if “they could do this everyday”.

Dylan Tweedale, Community Impact Coordinator at Dryrobe® attended Whizz Kids and shares: “It started off rainy and windy in the morning, but the kids pushed through with incredible determination and got out into the surf. After a lovely lunch together, the sun came out just in time for an epic afternoon session. The energy was electric. The volunteers were absolutely amazing; they had so much enthusiasm and care. I’m really proud to have been part of it through the Warmth Project. Days like this show the true power of community and surf therapy.”
