The Wave Project expands Summer Surf Sessions to three locations on the 6th of July 2024

Our free Summer Surf Sessions – formerly the Summer Surf Challenge – returns on Saturday, July 6, 2024, as the UK’s only free surfing event of its kind.

This year, thanks to support from Saltrock and Osprey, the event will be bigger than ever, expanding to three locations simultaneously. Alongside the familiar base of Watergate Bay in Cornwall, we will also be running sessions from South Bay in Scarborough and Croyde in Devon.

Tailored for children and young adults with disabilities and mental health needs, the Summer Surf Sessions can provide everything a child needs to build confidence in the ocean. The Wave Project’s trained surf coaches and volunteer mentors, barriers are broken down, making surfing accessible to all.

Ian Bennett, Adaptive Lead at The Wave Project, said: “We’re thrilled to triple our locations this year, bringing the life-changing benefits of surf therapy to more young people across the UK thanks to the generous support from our long-term partners, Saltrock and Osprey.”

“Reaching young people in both the North and South of the country is vital to our continued support of children around the UK.”

The Wave Project’s surf therapy uses the ocean to teach perseverance, courage and resilience – crucial skills for overcoming life’s challenges. The Summer Surf Sessions provide an inclusive, confidence-building day for all.
