Honiton Community College’s Post 16 24hr Danceathon

Cast your minds back to 24 months ago. COVID struck and with that students lives including their education and wellbeing took a different daily view. This has undoubtedly been a challenging time for everyone.
In a recent assembly at Honiton Community College 75 out of 75 hands were raised to signal that they or someone close to them had been affected by mental health throughout the last 24 months.
Therefore to recognise the last 24 months and celebrate their own survival of their personal journey, the Post 16 students are dancing for a solid 24 hrs to raise money for The Wave Project, an hour for each month!

Selena Burroughs, Assistant Principal – Director of Post 16 said “With an ABBA hour at 11.30pm!  Honiton’s local dementia memory café group are coming in on the Thursday afternoon for a cream tea and a bop as they love coming in and supporting our events. They have also invited the local Primary School to come down on the Friday morning to help us with some tired legs.

The dance floor is being lent to the school from Honiton Golf Club and Honiton Tesco are usually great with food donations. They have a list of things to get ready and beg from people but it will all get done, ready to dance the night away!  It really is a community event!”

Please feel free to support them by having a dance in your living room and making a donation.
