We believe that blue spaces are for everyone, and this event is a celebration of inclusivity in surfing – whether you are an adaptive surfer, a non-disabled surfer, a volunteer, or a supporter on the shore.
Leading the charge is our Inclusive Lead, Ian Bennett, a man on a mission to help as many people experience the benefits of surfing. Named the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year’s Unsung Hero for the South West, Ian has rallied an incredible team for this challenge. Throughout the day, at least two surfers from the team will be in the water at all times, with four hardy surfers keen to surf continually from 8am until 8pm (with short wellbeing breaks). Alongside them, many others will be enjoying stints in the water, supported by volunteers assisting the Adaptive surfers enjoy their time in the water.
This event is a celebration of how far The Wave Project has come and how communities can work together. All proceeds will go towards our Adaptive Surfing programmes.
Croyde has seen the ripples of Adaptive Surfing grow into wave after wave of enjoyment along our coastline, with new The Wave Project hubs across the country.
Come down to Croyde Beach, cheer on the surfers and be part of something truly special!
