Gloucestershire Grandson and Grandmother Duo to Skydive for Cornish Children’s Mental Health Charity

In a heartwarming display of intergenerational bonding, Gloucestershire residents Benjamin Wheeler and his grandmother Diane Wheeler are set to take a daring leap from the skies. The duo will skydive in support of The Wave Project, a national charity dedicated to improving children’s mental health through innovative Surf Therapy programmes.
Benjamin, who recently completed a week-long placement with The Wave Project in North Devon, was inspired by the organisation’s skydiving challenge poster. While this will be Benjamin’s first skydive, Diane brings some prior experience to the table, having completed a jump before.
Benjamin Wheeler comments: “I’m taking on the skydive because I’ve had the chance to volunteer for The Wave Project and have seen the amazing impacts it has on children and adults alike. I think it’s a great cause and is brilliant to get people involved in a sport I love.”
Diane Wheeler adds: “I was thinking of buying Ben a skydive for his 18th birthday, but when the opportunity came up for us to go together and raise money for a charity that Ben has loved volunteering for it was perfect. I can’t wait to do it with him!”
The Wheelers’ skydive is scheduled for the 29th of September, at Dunkeswell in Devon. The event will be one of several jumps taking place across six locations in the UK, including Surrey, Devon, Cornwall, Scotland, North Yorkshire and Durham. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy breathtaking views of the British countryside and coastline while raising funds for The Wave Project’s vital interventions.
By taking part in this challenge, Benjamin and Diane aim to make a significant impact on the lives of children as young as 8 who are struggling with mental health issues.
There is still time for others to join the Wheelers and take the leap. Those interested in participating or supporting the fundraiser can find out more and sign up here.
