New beach wheelchair will help more people access the waves 10 February 2020
Great news for the accessibility of our services – the North Devon project has been given £4.5k to buy a new beach wheelchair by Devon County Council’s Disabled Children’s Services.
We’ve been working really hard over the past year to make our sessions suitable for young people with disabilities, with team members and volunteers training to support adaptive surfing and sessions being run for people who have experienced strokes, amputations or have other physical disabilities.
We already have a brilliant adaptive surfboard for use in the water – but sometimes the trickiest bit is actually getting participants across the beach to the waves.
This donation will make it even easier for people of all abilities to access the benefits of surf therapy.
