Relay Your Way Hits the Waves in Scarborough
Celebrating Adaptive Surfing and inclusion on the Yorkshire coast

Last week, the Relay Your Way baton made a very special stop at the seafront in Scarborough. Our amazing team at The Wave Project North Yorkshire hosted an Adaptive Surfing session to mark their leg of the Relay Your Way journey.
In partnership with Cerebra, a charity that supports children with brain conditions, we were thrilled to use an innovative adapted surfboard, specially engineered to make the ocean more accessible for children and young people with additional needs.

The event was part of Relay Your Way, a nationwide campaign from My Way Access and Disability Sports Coach celebrating inclusion in sport. The baton has been travelling around the UK, passed from person to person in creative, fun and meaningful ways and our Surf Therapy team in Scarborough were proud to add their own wave-powered twist to the relay.

At The Wave Project, we believe in creating opportunities for all to experience the freedom and mental health benefits of surfing. Our Adaptive Surfing programmes offer a safe, supported space for people with disabilities to access the water, often for the very first time.
