Surf Therapy Makes Waves in St Andrews with Special Guests

A couple of weeks ago, we welcomed some very special guests to our Surf Therapy session in St Andrews.

Local MPs Willie Rennie (North East Fife) and Wendy Chamberlain (North East Fife) joined The Wave Project Scotland to see first-hand how Surf Therapy is helping young people across Fife and Tayside feel more confident, supported, and positive about their mental health. And they didn’t just come along to watch – both Willie Rennie and Wendy Chamberlain suited up, jumped in and had a go at surfing themselves!

Our young people, volunteers and surf mentors were able to share their experiences of how The Wave Project is creating a safe, supportive environment where children and young people can thrive.

Following the session, Wendy Chamberlain shared her reflections:

“Thank you so much for you and the team’s time and hospitality last week. It absolutely met my expectations and beyond – I’d go as far as to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself!

What was really inspiring was seeing the work of the instructors, and crucially, the mentors in supporting the young people taking part. How do you measure that impact? In the smiles and shouts of happiness I think – which is why it was great to have the opportunity to experience it first hand.”

We are so grateful to both Willie Rennie and Wendy Chamberlain for taking the time to meet our community and experience the magic of Surf Therapy. We’d love to welcome more MPs to our sessions across the UK and show them how Surf Therapy is changing lives.
