Surfs up for young people in Northern Ireland, thanks to National Lottery funding

We are delighted to announce that The Wave Project has received 4 years of funding to continue its work with young people in Northern Ireland.

We have been providing surf therapy in Northern Ireland from Portrush and Benone beaches since Autumn 2018, and have been working hard to secure long term funding to continue our surf therapy programme. Thanks to the National Lottery funding, we will now be able to work with a further 240 young people.

Northern Ireland Coordinator, Carla Magee said; “to secure this funding in Northern Ireland is a huge boost for the charity, and the local area. Guaranteeing places for our young people for the next 4 years will bring around wonderful changes in the mental wellbeing of young people on the Causeway Coast.”

Wave Project founder Joe Taylor said; “It’s fantastic news that we’ll be able to continue working with young people in Northern Ireland thanks this funding. We can’t wait to get in the waves and share the stoke of this incredible sport with more young people who need our support”.
